What the Buck
About
What the Buck?! is a pixel-art incremental / idle game that flips the classic “earn money” formula on its head. Instead of accumulating wealth, your goal is to destroy as much money as possible.
You swipe a credit card to withdraw stacks of cash, then smash them to grow your destruction power and funds. The more money you obliterate, the stronger you become. The game features a highly addictive core loop full of satisfying feedback, escalating visual chaos, and a prestige system that lets you reset for permanent power boosts.
Currently available as an early demo (roughly 1 hour of content) on itch.io, with a full Steam release planned for November 9, 2026. Made with Godot, no generative AI was used.
How to Play
- Withdraw Cash – Swipe your credit card to pull out stacks of money.
- Smash It – Click (or use automations) to destroy the stacks. Every smash increases your funds and progression.
- Upgrade & Automate – Spend your gains on upgrades and unlock automation tools (such as automatic credit-card swipers and passive shredders) so the money keeps getting destroyed even when you’re not clicking.
- Explore the Skill Tree – Unlock special effect bills (Electric, Explosive, Golden, etc.) and other powerful permanent upgrades.
- End Shift (Prestige) – When upgrades become too expensive and progress slows, end your current shift. You reset the run but gain prestige points that permanently boost your destruction power for future runs.
The game is controlled with mouse and keyboard and supports a very large number of languages.
